The Prius just won the #1 spot in terms of resale value according to Consumer Reports. I checked the Edmunds.com True Market Value of our 2005 Prius (with 10,000 miles on the odo), and found that we've lost less than $1,400 in depreciation from the $23,500 we paid for it. That's about 6% in the first 16 months of ownership. For comparison, the average depreciation of a used vehicle is 45% in the first three years (according to the article).
